How to Get Around Kansas City, MO.

Driving distances to Kansas City

If arriving by air, downtown Kansas City is a short 12 miles from the newly constructed Kansas City International Airport terminal. Upon arrival at the airport, schedule an Uber, Lyft, Iris, or zTrip to get to your accommodations.

My advice is to skip renting a car overall and to rely on walking and the free KC streetcar (or hire a rideshare option) to maneuver throughout the city. For instance, Uber and Lyft are highly prevalent and can typically be found within 2 – 3 minutes of any given address.

When places and attractions are within walking distance, however, simply download this map to quickly get around.

Additional planning tip: BIRD and LYME electric scooters and bikes are parked and available for use on every square inch of the downtown to Crown Center/Union State corridor.

Rent them via the LIME app, use them to get where you need to go, and leave them behind wherever. There is no designated starting or drop-off point.
