Through my early years, I often heard about my grandparents and Brandon’s grandparents spending time cruising Commercial Street in north Springfield. However, it had been allowed to decay and become vacant for several decades.

Today is a far different story! From antique shops to contemporary boutiques, you’ll find something to delight every explorer. But it’s not just about shopping; it’s about witnessing the revival of a once-neglected street and feeling the heartbeat of the community.

Come and join in the rekindled shopping spirit of Commercial Street or C-Street as the locals call it!


Bonus: Fun Acre

When you’re looking for a fun place to take kids on a budget, Fun Acre is perfect! Adults love this place as much as the kids do which makes it a great family outing. Dinosaurs, Alligators, Windmills and Water…Look Out!

A vintage vibe to this outdoor 18-hole miniature golf course is only half of what keeps raving fans coming back over and over. The other is the price! $3 for adults and $1.75 for kids 5-11 is all you pay to play. Cash only so come prepared and check their seasonal hours.

They also have batting cages with various speed pitching machines for tuning up your Stan Musial swing. We’ll call it that George Brett Swing for you lefties. One quarter will get you 5 pitches so bring a roll and swing away!

When we were first married, we lived just a couple miles from Fun Acre and I can promise you, many nights of fun were had here with our friends.
